FIRST CIRCULAR

On behalf of the GPSBI (Gruppo di Palinologia della Società Botanica Italiana) and APLE (Asociación de Palinólogos de Lengua Española) - the Italian and Spanish palynological associations - we invite you to join the congress "Mediterranean Palynology 2015" in Rome (Italy) in the dates 8-10 September 2015. The venue of the congress will be University ‘La Sapienza’ of Rome.

It is the first time that the two groups of palynology promote a joint scientific meeting. In 2013, GPSBI organized the congress on 2013 Palynology in Modena while APLE organized the 2nd International APLE-APLF congress in Madrid. The positive outcomes of the two congresses are the clear evidence that this science has a renewed interest in modern society, and stimulated this new cooperation for the next congress.

The symposium will provide an opportunity for the participants to exchange ideas, find global partners for future collaboration and share experiences and research results. The main palynological issues will be discussed including studies on air quality and environment, climate and global change, cultural landscape and human activities, and other basic and applied subjects.

The Symposium will include Plenary Lectures, Scientific and Posters Sessions. Each session will start with lectures of relevant experts in the field followed by several oral communications selected from the submitted abstracts. The active participation is welcome by all members and non-members of GPSBI and APLE, interested in Mediterranean palynology. Nevertheless, communications about palynology of other areas will also be welcomed.
